Satyam Sponsors USID 2007

Satyam sponsored USID (Usable Software Interface Design) 2007, a premium usability event held at the Hyderabad International Convention Center from June 18-20. The event saw an array of distinguished speakers from Satyam, National Institute of Design, Google, SAP Labs, Microsoft, CA, Pramati, Colayer and Trina.

USID 2007 focused on design techniques and methodologies that help build an information society where the maximum number of people can use technology with minimum effort. Speakers examined various aspects of the theme ‘Living in the Digital World: Challenges for Designers and Engineers’.

Vijay Tadepalli, leader of the User Experience Management practice of Satyam spoke on ‘Impacting Business through Usability’. Highlighting the need to establish clear-cut ROI indicators for usability, Vijay’s presentations focused on where and how usability and software design can intersect effectively to give maximum benefit to the user. “Show me the money”is the common refrain of business and IT owners when asked to invest in usability, Vijay pointed out in his conference paper. He dwelt at length on the fast-growing cases in industries worldwide -- Dell, Wall Street Journal -- where improved usability and user experience have led to measurable increase in transactions and hence, revenues. The presentation led to a lively discussion with the audience comprising technologists, designers and academics from the world of usability and design. Prof. Orville Club of the City University of Hong Kong felicitated Vijay at the end of the event.
