Testing trends in APAC

I will cover two different subjects in this blog, first the growing testing trends, and second how these trends are reflected in organizations in APAC region. The topics have been stitched to demonstrate how customer expectations have changed over the years and how testing trends have changed w.r.t. growing complexity of applications, infrastructure, architecture, technology etc.

Testing as a practice has grown in complexity and significance from the time software industry was in adolescence in early 1990s. I would name pre-Google era as Testing 1.0, post Google until 2006 as Testing 2.0 and post that as Testing 3.0.

1. ATOMISATION & DIGITISATION OF BUSINESS PROCESSES

Enterprises will focus on atomisation and digitisation of business processes. Atomisation means dividing the business processes into gradual business tasks.

Digitisation means taking the business processes into the next level of automation by leveraging the emerging technologies like social, mobile, analytics, cloud, sensors , with which the human intervention in executing a business process would significantly go down.

Atomisation helps in identifying the priority and critical business tasks which can be mobilised (Enterprise Mobility). Digitisation helps having self service and proactive real time information & updates to customers

2. STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF BIG DATA AND BUSINESS VALUE

Atomisation and digitisation of business processes create data explosion. Enterprises would see significant increase of volume, velocity and variety of data.

Are Newspapers dying??

“Change is the only constant in the world” – told by Heraclitus in 535-475 BC still holds true for us. And who better to know this than the newspaper industry.


Since the digital disruption in publishing world, the newspaper industry is going through a major churn.  While for most of us, the mornings are still incomplete without reading the newspaper (not the digital version), a ubiquitous bunch of people have started questioning the viability of the newspaper industry. The industry did see a continuous decline by over 10% YoY in the paid subscriptions in between 2006 - 2010. Combined with increased production and transportation costs, the statements were quite on the point. So, is the industry really dying??
