TeleStrategies
Mahindra Satyam is a regular participant in TeleStrategies Billing and OSS World events, sharing our vision and work on Next Generation Solutions. We have presented several papers and delivered sessions on transition to an all IP network. We share our experiences on challenges faced by the current service providers and what we are doing to address those challenges.
We are also partnering with the best-of-breed vendors for orchestrating the convergence of disparate operations into one platform; integrating fixed/ mobile and voice/data/content/IPTV services for services on-boarding, service fulfillment and services management from end-user perspective, operator perspective and the third party service providers perspective. |
Applied Research Group(ARG)
Applied Research Group(ARG) focuses on creating IP in the areas of Computation, Communication, Networking, and Information Processing Algorithms. The created IP is in the form of solutions, technical reports, published conference and journal papers, and patent specifications.
The research group offers two services:
Collaborative research to undertake Co-authoring and co-publishing in computation and communication areas
Collaborative solutions to undertake concept and algorithm research, and solution demonstration
The main objectives of the group are:
(a) To carry out market led applied research leading to IP creation and development
(b) File patents, mostly in USPTO
(c) Help build showcase products based on research results
(d) Present and publish papers in international conferences and refereed journals
ARG has over hundred and eighty publications and over nineteen US patent specifications. In order to expand its reach of technology and expertise, the group collaborates with academic institutions and research laboratories, both within India and abroad (mostly in USA). The group participates regularly in various technical conferences and seminars, and organizes invited lectures/seminars by experts from the various institutions.
ARG’s Telecom focus is in the areas related to analysis and processing of telecom data. Current areas of research at ARG in the area of telecom analytics involve churn management, target marketing for up-selling and cross-selling, network fault detection and classification for further step of rectification, risk analytics, customer life time value.
Telecom Analytics
ARG’s research in telecom analytics addresses the broad requirement of large data analysis for efficient mining of use information which has direct consequences on business decisions. Some of the important applications of large data analytics in telecom are:
- Subscriber Profiling
- A Rule-based Approach for Anomaly Detection in Subscriber Usage Pattern
- Churn Modeling
- A Fast Linear Separability Test by Projection of Positive Points on Subspaces
- Subscriber Fraud Detection
- A New Fuzzy Supervised Classification Method based on Aggregation Operator
- Product and Service Targeting
- Symbiotic Evolution Based Dynamic Clustering
- Power Quality Event Analysis using Wavelet Feature based Fuzzy Classification
Context Aware Computing
ARG’s research in context aware computing addresses the issues in context aware service delivery. Exploiting the context information for targeted service delivery to the subscriber is both interesting and challenging problem. Following are some of the issues addressed in context aware computing:
- Context in enterprise collaborations
- Context Aware Collaboration in Enterprises
- Context Aware Retrieval in Web-Based Collaborations
- CART: An Information System for Context-Aware Information Access during Synchronous Web-based Collaborations
- Context aware content dissemination
- Context Aware Personalized Ad Insertion in an Interactive TV Environment
- Internet Based Multimodal Collaboration through Context-Aware Information Dissemination
- Mobility and Context Based Event Aggregation and Dissemination in Wireless Environment
- Context in contact centers
- Web-based Context Aware Information Retrieval in Contact Centers
- Hybrid Context Model based on Multilevel Situation Theory and Ontology for Contact Centers
- A Multicycle Context Model Using Oracles and Microsituations for Contact Centers

Solution Labs
Mahindra Satyam has collaborated with its Strategic Partners to set up solution labs that offer a “near live“ deployment experience. These labs are used for joint solution development and creation of assets to improve customer solutions.
Integrated BSS / Billing
solution Center
Mahindra Satyam has set up dedicated lab facilities for developing solutions
in CRM/Billing Integration/ Management. There are two full-fledged
labs running the Kenan Billing System from Converse and the Infranet
Billing System from Portal. These systems are pre-integrated with PeopleSoft
CRM as well as Siebel CRM in the lab environment.
Apart from providing a “live”environment for development
of adaptors and other assets on the CRM/Billing systems, these labs
provide full-fledged test and training environments.
Service Assurance
Solution Centre
A dedicated lab facility for Service Assurance / Network Management
Solutions, this showcases the following solutions:
- Development of a Network Management Solution using NETeXPERT Fault
Management and other third party systems that create the Assurance
and Network Management ecosystem
- Building assets on top of NETeXPERT to perform correlation of
network fault and performance events with SLA and contracts systems
The labs are being used extensively for hands–on training as
well as for testing product updates in an “almost–live”environment
before software updates are shipped to customer worldwide.
Telecom Analytics
Solution Centre
Mahindra Satyam is setting up a dedicated lab to showcase an end-to-end analytics
solution and derived metrics that target some of the problems faced
by today’s telcos.
The Lab focuses on:
- Derived analytics for MMR-CDR Correlation
- Derived analytics from NMS data store
- Customer Management reports and dashboards
Next Generation
Platforms Solution Centre
Mahindra Satyam has partnered with Microsoft to build the next generation platform
solution, and is currently working on the joint development of services
portal components. Some of the activities undertaken in this initiative
are:
- Web Services-based IP Portal
- Web-based rules and policies for third party applications
- Convergent IP OSS/Subscription Platform
