4,500-square-foot facility will focus
on South American and global customers
India, Hyderabad, April 4, 2007 —Satyam
Computer Services, Ltd. (NYSE: SAY), the leading global and
information technology services company, announced today that
it has launched a 4,500-square-foot development center here,
its largest facility in South America. The Satyam Latam Center
is already providing services for several Brasilian, other
South American, and global customers. Professionals at the
center provide application outsourcing and development, enterprise
resource planning software implementation and outsourcing,
and infrastructure management services and consulting.
“Establishing a strategic facility in South America
complements numerous other Satyam development centers in
Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and North America,”said Ram
Mynampati, president of Satyam’s commercial and healthcare
businesses. “It also demonstrates Satyam’s
commitment to providing exceptional client service via a
global delivery model, and reinforces our dedication to the
local market.”
Cleiton Amaral Dias, the chief information officer at Invista,
inaugurated the facility today. Three other local business
leaders, Jane Ricci, an IT manager at Camargo Correa; Mario
Marandino, an IT manager at Nestle; and Flavio Reis IT Manager
Systems and Process Division, Latin America Operations of Caterpillar
Inc, served as lamplighters. The lighting of a lamp at a kickoff
ceremony is an ancient Indian tradition that symbolizes the
removal of ignorance and darkness.
The center’s inauguration coincided with Satyam’s
hosting of the First Latin American Geosourcing Forum at the
Blue Tree Hotel, an event attended by more than 40 CXOs and
key decision makers.
“The opening of the Satyam Latam Development Center
and our participation in the Geosourcing Forum are strong
indications of Satyam’s dedication to clients all over
the world, and to Latin America in particular,”Mynampati said. “We
are always on the lookout for places where exceptional people
wish to excel, and South America fits that bill very nicely.
Sao Paulo has several excellent universities. As a result,
it also features a great number of skilled and highly capable
information technology and business professionals who would
benefit Satyam and our clients tremendously.”
“In addition to enabling Satyam to respond to our
clients’needs with more agility, the new center will
serve as the organization’s South American headquarters,”said Gary
Teelucksingh, leader of the company’s initiatives in
the Americas. “Moreover, it marks the
first of several key investments Satyam is making on this
continent. In fact, plans for another substantial center
in Brasil are already under way.”
Sao Paulo Governor José Serra is also pleased with Satyam’s decision
to increase its footprint here. “This thriving, growing city is Brasil’s
industrial and financial center, and features numerous high-profile organizations
that are already Satyam clients. We look forward to leveraging our skills in
Sao Paulo and throughout the world to deliver superior business solutions for
the outstanding companies here.”
