Satyam to Implement Far-Reaching ILM Solution for Dubai Municipality

Solution Will Streamline Operations and Enhance Trading Partner Relationships

INDIA, HYDERABAD, July 05, 2006 —Dubai Municipality www.dm.gov.ae and Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE: SAY), a leading global consulting and information technology services company, announced today that it will implement a complete infrastructure lifecycle management (ILM) solution for Dubai Municipality (DM) engineering departments . The solution will help DM develop better relationships with its clients and vendors, and facilitate communication with them via online requests, payments, and progress reports.

The Municipality is one of the largest entities in Dubai, in terms of the people it employs, the volume of services it provides, and the projects it undertakes. It is a major force behind the current aggressive development of Dubai City. Satyam along with the support of DM management and technical team will help the DM solve numerous administrative and technology problems. For example, it will ensure that consultants and contractors are paid on time, and that material approvals occur in a timely fashion. Satyam’s solution will also enable employees to access ad hoc reports and online information to determine the status of the DM’s numerous large-scale projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yousif Shams, Head of Systems Development said: “The ILM solution will consolidate all the project activities and will allow effective lifecycle management of all our projects. The solution will help DM streamline its operations and improve relationships with our Trading Partners. It part of the development section vision to provide sophisticated solution to manage the relation between DM and it's partner, also to provide the Top management with the on time project status report. Satyam has demonstrated an exceptional track record in implementing technology solutions in the region and we are happy to have partnered with them for our business need. The commitment, responsiveness, business understanding and technology expertise that Satyam brought into this relationship is phenomenal and we are already witnessing the benefits of the solution. We look forward to a sustained and fruitful relationship with Satyam

Although the solution is complex, as are the DM’s many enormous projects totally managed by DM departments, the benefits it will derive are quite simple: The Municipality will become a better business partner with its customers and suppliers, and thus enjoy better business relations with them,”said Virender Aggarwal, Director and Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. “DM employees will be able to communicate with customers and suppliers more easily and effectively, streamlining operations and facilitating continuous improvement," he added.

Satyam’s web-based, zero-footprint solution is based on Proliance from Meridian Systems. It is a comprehensive enterprise business solution on a native, service-oriented architecture platform. It features additional customization on a .NET platform, and custom-developed Crystal reports. The solution will perform several critical functions, including:

  • Analyze existing DM processes—manual and automated
  • Deliver a complete functional specification for configuration, reporting, data migration, and any required integration
  • Perform configuration strategy and design, project planning, and test cycles
  • Configure the Proliance application
  • Interface with planning and reports
  • Provide end-user training.
After implementation, a single tool will enable DM engineering departments users to manage the entire project lifecycle, including, planning, budgeting, design, scheduling, procurement, construction, closeout, and maintenance. The tool will also allow users to monitor project progress and manage project cash flow much more effectively. Moreover, it will deliver critical business intelligence, providing enhanced visibility into the entire portfolio of projects, programs, and facilities for senior executives and mid-level managers.
